Truly touched

Okay, everyone. I can't even tell you how much I'm loving the gift I received in the mail over the weekend. It's completely awesome on two counts. The first being that one of my greatest friends from college commissioned this painting as a wedding gift for us which is something I've always wanted. I don't know if there is anything more special than having something created especially for you. The thoughtfulness of this gift totally makes my heart fill with joy,

The second thing that makes this gift so wonderful is that the artist is a dear friend of mine whose artwork I absolutely love. Lisa of lisadiederich.com helped me out a couple weeks ago while I was recovering from surgery by writing this fabulous guest post and all the while, she was also working on the amazing painting above! I'm truly touched and flabbergasted to know that something (according to Lisa) was inspired by me, could turn into something this breathtaking.

I've found the perfect place for it too! I've hung it right above my desk so that every time I'm working on a new creation, I can find inspiration from Lisa's beautiful brush-strokes. Our office also doubles as a guest room, so all who visit can enjoy her work as well!

So, Brett and Lisa- you guys are simply the best and even though we're in different places (literally, half-way around the world for one of you!), I truly cherish your friendships and hope the happiness I feel when I look at this painting radiates it's way to you both!

Local Obsessions: Emma Overman

From the moment I stopped by Emma Overman's booth at the Penrod Art Fair, I have been completely obsessed with her work. It is playful, poignant, and brings you into a fairytale world that is truly imagination at it's best. Someday, when I have kids I'm going to fill their rooms with this stuff. Her work is some of my favorite and is a local commodity that I hope to someday own!
