To stay in line with my resolution, B picked apart some ingredients in our pantry and made super tasty granola. Not only were we able to use up some of the giant container of oats we've had forever, we had something home-made that didn't cost a thing.
We used Alton Brown's granola recipe but altered it with the ingredients we had or would have rather used. I think that is probably the best thing about making granola- you can absolutely cater the recipe to what you already have.
Here is our ingredient list:
3 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup almonds
1 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup craisins
For the complete recipe and directions check out Alton Brown's recipe here.

{pouring them onto the baking sheet}

E- SO glad I found this. I've had oats in the cabinet for far too long. I'm going to give this a whirl.
Nice! Hope it turns out to be a oatey dream!
