A Happy Mom's Weekend

We had a wonderful time with our mom's this weekend and even ended up squeezing in some cooking (I made this pasta for lunch) and a quick craft project with one of my favorite little ones. We also got to hang out with two of the most giant and friendly pup's I've ever seen. Unfortunately, it turns out I'm also allergic to them so while I'm recovering enjoy a few snaps from the weekend!

Yes those are dogs, not horses and they were the sweetest pups around!

V-Day DIY

Happy Valentines Day, everyone!

Unfortunately, the Valentine season didn't leave me a lot of extra time to dedicate to crafting. I did, however, manage to eek out one teeny tiny project inspired by Camilla at Family Chic.

For this project I used an extra wire hanger and about two feet of red, 4 ply yarn. I tied it off on each end and found it easiest to start from the end of the "e" and move backwards.

It's just a simple little touch to our mantle but I was happy to have a little red to show for this Valentines Day.

Upcycled Desk Containers

If you're looking for a quick way to give your desk space a new look, try this really simple craft project. For my new pencil holders I used two cans that once contained garbanzo beans (my favorite!) and some fabric samples that were given to me by one of my best friends, Swann.

Give them a try!

What you'll need:
Two tin cans, any size depending on what you need to store
Fabric of your choice (scraps work perfectly for this project!)
Scissors
Measuring tape
Glue gun


The plan:

• Measure the height of the cans and cut your fabric accordingly
• Wrap the fabric around the can, gluing the fabric to the can every few inches on the top and bottom
• Leave enough fabric to overlap where you started by about 1/2 an inch
• Secure overlapping fabric with glue
• Voila!
