Catching up

Since its been a few, I thought I might take some time today to give you all a little pictorial review of what we've been up to over the last couple of months. Overall, we've just been trucking along as usual but there are a few things worth mentioning:

First up- we have a new lawyer in the family! We're pretty thrilled for and proud of my sister, Emily who just passed the bar. Pretty amazing, eh? She's brilliant and already making some pretty big moves so we're certain she'll be president and/or Queen of the World someday. I'll keep you posted on that. Here she is in her graduation duds:

Meet, Honey! Our new pup. She is 5 and Finny loves her. They play great together and clearly we don't spoil them one bit with accessories or bed access. She came to live with us at the beginning of September and we're so glad to call her a part of the family.

Ben and I were lucky enough to take some time here and there for vacation. The first trip we took was just the two of us. We toured Kentucky for a week taking in the sights and sips of the Bourbon Trail. It was such a wonderful trip. We learned a lot, got to take things at our own pace, and didn't end up spending much money at all. Most of the tours were either free or under $10, they are pretty reasonably close together, we used up some hotel points, and the dining in all the small towns we stopped in was pretty affordable. If you're looking for a trip that is easily adaptable to your schedule and pocketbook- this could be your jam!

Another nice little getaway we took was to the lake with Ben's family. It was a relaxing week with lots of eating, kayaking and laying out along the dock! Here's the crew of us in our natural state:

Right before we left for our bourboney adventures, however, Ben surprised me with an awesome birthday party with my family. Not only did they all throw in to get me a new Canon EOS Rebel, they made me something I've been wanting for a really long time- a birthday cake made of chicken wings. Behold:

So- overall, it has been a great summer and the chances we've had to escape from our normally hectic work weeks were very welcome, indeed.

Hope you've enjoyed the re-cap and are off to fun and exciting things of your own for the weekend!

Happy Friday, until next week!
