Handmade Holiday: Up-cycled Sweater Pillows
The cold air has me wanting to fill our house with lots of cozy fixings. The holiday season however causes us to keep a budget under wraps. So, instead of buying the super cute knit pillows like these or these I decided to hit up my local Goodwill and get to work.
Two pillow forms and a few runs through the sewing machine and these $4 sweaters:
turned into these pillows:
This was a really easy project. I just chopped the sweaters off under the arms, turned the material inside out then sewed a seam across the top. Full disclosure, I cheated and shoved the pillow form into the material (right-side-out) and ran a seam across the bottom. All four sides aren't uniform but I still like them! Not only is this a environmentally friendly way to use something second hand, its an easy sewing project and barely costs $10. Perfect to keep at home for the long winter, or give away to a lucky friend.
