In the kitchen: Plum Galette

Plum Galette
The cooler weather has given me a little bit more of an itch to be in the kitchen. That paired with the awesome produce we're receiving in our Green BEAN deliveries has resulted in some new recipes, like this plum galette!

What you need:
1 pluot
4 black plums
3 TB Brown Sugar
1 TB Cinnamon
3 TB Butter
1/2 Cup water
1 sheet of puff pastry

The plan:

Thaw puff pastry for 30 minutes before preparing the galette. Preheat oven to 375. In a pan, combine 2 TB butter and plums. Sautee until butter is melted. Add water and brown sugar, and cinnamon. Bring to a boil and reduce until water and sugar create a syrup like consistency covering the plums. In the meantime, and after dough has thawed for 40 minutes, roll until 12" x 12".  Once plums are soft, pour syrup/plum mixture into the center of the dough square. Fold edges over creating a circle-shaped pastry, brush with 1 TB melted butter. Bake until golden brown.

The wrap
A few tips: Since I'm not a real chef, I'm not exactly sure what method you would call this type of plum preparation, but I do know it worked. The plums were almost candied, which I really liked. The nice thing about galettes is that they don't have to be perfect and you can fill them with just about anything!

Et voila!
