A HUGE thanks to Misty, owner of Curat-Romania Handcrafted Soaps and writer of the Curat-Romania blog! This morning I woke up to an email in which she had chosen me and six other fabulous bloggers to give the Versatile Blogger Award. What a great surprise!
Misty had this to say about RH:
Elise writes about ways to make your home beautiful, your spirit lifted and shares her experiences in a light and colorful way. Her blog is a joy to read and she is pretty too! Everything from home items to great food along with easy recipes. A well rounded lifestyle blog!
I'm so touched and flattered to receive such nice compliments from a bodacious and beautiful woman like Misty! And, if you haven't tried out her soaps, you must! I love them so much that I didn't just write about them, I use them EVERY day. The always make my skin feel clean and soft. Love 'em!
In accordance with the award, here are seven random things about myself. 1.) I am singer Tony Bennett's number one fan. 2.) I'm very particular about how a bed should be made, one might even say OCD.(My mother can tell you I didn't carry this trait when I was a kid.) 3.) I graduated from Butler University with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Music Performance. 4.) I've always thought of my voice as my main instrument but I also play piano, guitar, and am currently teaching myself the fiddle! 5.) I LOVE being on the water and feel most relaxed there. 6.) I was once a contributor to a national news network during the 2008 Democrat Primary while I worked as a news anchor for a radio station. 7.) My mom took my sister and I to have afternoon tea at the Peabody Hotel while we were in Memphis, TN and Cybil. Shepard was there with her kids too!
An last bug not least, here are seven great blogs you should totally check out:
Around Indiana:
Haute in the Heartland is a fantastic read highlighting Indianapolis' emerging fashion scene. I'm not sure I would have believed 10 years ago that Indy would have such a fun and vibrant design vibe to it, but I'm so happy it does now! HIH keeps all up to speed along the way in a well-written and sophisticated nature.
What I Wore. If you are one of the few that doesn't read this one- you need to start! And while you're at it, pick up her new book, "What I Wore: Four Season, One Closet, Endless Recipes for Personal Style". I read this book TWICE from cover to cover.
Design for Mankind is another fellow Hoosier blogger. Her design blog is perfectly curated and looks ever so effortlessly complex!
My BFFs from college:
Total Basset Case is a fun and DIY-tastic blog by interior designer, Sarah, who posts lots of great projects with smatterings of her lovable pup Floyd the basset hound! You should totally check out her necklace and headband tutorials. They are among some of my favorite projects that she has done!
Everyday Easy makes "your everyday happenings a little happier'! It is written by one of my closest college friends, Sarah (another Sarah! We had nicknames for all of the Sarahs:)) and her sister Laura who keep there readers in the know about products they like, fast fixes when you need to do some last-minute organizing, and super easy recipes!
All in the family:
I've said it before, but if you are the least bit into gardening, you must read Annie's Gardening. Our Aunt Anne is our number one resource when it comes to gardening and plants (my mother in law is right up there with her!). She knows everything from the genus of a plant to it's historical background. She is amazing!
The SAM Foundation is a charity set up after our beloved Uncle Sam passed away in 2009 from Melanoma. The foundation hosts an annual golf tournament and helps promote the awareness and prevention of melanoma throughout the year. If you're in Indiana you can register here for next month's tournament!
