This week we've finally made some progress on our garden. We're about a month late but until things slow down with the day job (that has also turned night job) it's the best we can do and I'm totally fine with that.
Here's a little bit of our progress, in case you were curious:

Removing the last of the compost to put in the garden |
|
Our self-made compost bin made from up-cycled fence post |
|
Newly fenced and tilled! |

Soil and compost |

Aunt Anne's Planting Calendar |
This year we're using a wonderful wedding gift we received from Ben's aunt and our esteemed gardening guru. It's a calendar that uses the Earth and Moon's rotational cycle to determine the best planting days for your crops (I hope I described that right, Annie!). We're firm believers in everything being connected and when you're depending on the Earth to give you a high yield, you have to work with her. As we all know, you can't control nature so it's best to work with it, not against it!
How is your garden going so far?

We have lettuce, peas, broccoli, carrots, and cucumbers planted. We will probably pick up some tomato and pepper plants next weekend.
Nice! Not too long now before your early plantings will be ready!
