An easy weekend project
Staying in line with my New Year's resolution to buy less and start at home when I get the urge to redesign spaces I came up with this quick project. I think it's especially important to have a little green around your house when the winter seams so bleak. And by green I mean nature, not money.
This past summer I planted a small start from a succulent plant which multiplied two-fold during our late-summer drought. When the frost came, I just brought the pot of succulents in, put them in a window and didn't think twice.
This weekend I decided I needed to bring some living color into more of the house so I ended up separating the pieces of succulent. The first bunch went into a small pot for our living room end table, and the other went into my peararium.
The peararium originally came with sand and air plants but I really wanted some more color and felt that a giant glass pear deserved something extra special.
To divide the succulents I carefully broke up the soil in the original pot with my hands. I decided to give them some fresh cacuts soil and gently arranged them in their new homes. I also added some rocks that B's parents brought us from Zion National Park. It really is amazing what you can find around your own home!
